How hard is it to assemble the Tread?
There is no assembly required - you simply plug it in and start walking.

Is it difficult to put the Desk together?
If you can use a screw driver, you can put the desk together. There is a template on the underside of the desktop, so you cannot go wrong. The only tool you need is a Phillips head screw driver.

How loud is the Tread?
The technical answer is around 35 decibels, but unless you are familiar with decibel readings, that probably doesn't mean much. Thirty-five decibels equates to a whisper or "white noise". Our Tread is definitely on the quiet end of the spectrum when compared to all other treadmills on the market today. Much of the sound you will hear comes from the shoes you wear, so you might want to ensure that you wear shoes that do not make an excessive clomping sound.

How will my purchase be shipped?
If you only order a Tread, we will ship it via UPS if it is going to a residence and via LTL common carrier to a business with a loading dock. If you order a Tread with a Desk, this combination is too big for UPS and we will use a LTL truck line for both residence and business locations.

How fast do you recommend walking?
That will vary from one person to the next, but most TreadDesk customers find a speed of 1.0 - 1.5 a comfortable walking speed that allows them to continue doing everything that they would normally do when sitting down.

I get motion sickness easily, do some people experience this when walking and working?
We have yet to have one customer complain about motion sickness. This is most likely due to the slow speed at which they are walking. To check whether or not you will have any difficulties, we recommend that you get on a treadmill at a friend's home or at the gym and try walking and reading a book at just 1 mph.

What type of maintenance is required?
You will need to lubricate the belt on occassion (once a month if you use the Tread daily; the manual you will receive gives more information). We provide a bottle of silicone oil along with the Tread. You should also keep the Tread clean by wiping off the deck and monitor cover weekly. We recommend that you remove the motor cover and clean out any dust or lint buildup once a month with a vacuum. These measures will help to keep your Tread operating at a low decible level. If you start to hear a whine, it may be time to vacuum the motor. You could also run the Tread at 4 mph for a few minutes.

Why do I get shocked sometimes when I start walking on the Tread?
Static electricity can be caused by many things, but it is usually due to dry air during the winter months. If you already have a humidifier and you are still getting shocked, you might consider placing the rubber treadmill mat that we supply with all Treads between the Tread and the floor. You might always want to wear clothes and shoes made of natural fibers. Finally, you could try spraying a static free product onto the Tread belt before you start walking.

My Desk will not go up. What should I do?
If your Desk will only go down, push the "Down" arrow until the Desk reaches its lowest point, then release the button. Next, push the "Down" arrow in again and hold it in for 10 seconds. This will reset the control box so that it should now work properly.
