Frequently Asked Questions

Q - How hard is it to assemble the Tread?
A - There is
no assembly required - you simply plug it in and start walking.

Q - Is it difficult to put the Desk together?
A - If you can use a screw driver, you can put the desk together. The only tool needed is a phillips head screw driver to screw the 16 screws into the pre-drilled holes.

Q - How loud is the Tread?
A - The technical answer is around 35 decibels, but unless you are familiar with that really doesn't mean much. Thirty five decibels equates to a whisper or "white noise". Our Tread is definitely on the quiet end of the spectrum when compared to other treadmills on the market today.

Q - Why do I get shocked sometimes when I start walking on the Tread?
A - Static electricity can be caused by many things, but the main cause is usually dry air during the winter months. If you already have a humidifier and you are still getting shocked, you might also consider placing a rubber treadmill mat between the Tread and the floor, wear clothes and shoes made of natural fibers and spray a static free product onto the Tread belt before you start walking.

Q - How fast do you recommend walking?
A - That will vary from one person to the next, but most TreadDesk customers find a speed of 1.0 - 1.5 a comfortable walking speed that allows them to continue doing everything that they would normally do when sitting down.

Q - Why would I need the "Flooring"?
A - If you would like to sit down at the same desk that you are walking at, you will need the flooring. If you do not plan to sit at this desk and have another desk to sit at, you do not need flooring.

Q - What type of maintenance is required?
A - The belt will need to be lubricated on occasion (once a month if used daily) with the bottle of oil that was included along the the Tread and you should also keep the Tread clean by wiping off the deck and motor cover weekly and vaccuming under the Tread once a month.

Q - I get motion sickness easily, do some people experience this when walking and working?
A - We have yet to have one customer complain about it and this is most likely due to the slow speed at which they are walking. To check whether or not you will, we recommend getting on a treadmill and try walking and reading a book at just 1 mph.
